Improbable Lounge – from thursday 16 jan 2014

We hope that you've all had a wonderful Christmas filled with cheer and goodwill. And that you're gearing up for 2014….

2013 has been good to us and we are still over the moon at our brand new weekly residential night at the Priory Arms, Stockwell. 5 mins from the tube!

The Improbable Lounge is every Thursday and is a fun and laughter filled evening that will whisk you away to the cabaret nights of Berlin….although our acts are distinctly modern and the cream of the emerging talent on the musical comedy and improv scene. With some quirky weirdness thrown in for good measure (and fun).

Best of all – it's all free. Nada. Not a jot.

So please come down, bring your friends, tell random strangers on the tube.

We really appreciate your support and love every one of you!

The Improbable Lounge

We are counting down the days to the launch of our brand new weekly comedy improv night.

The Improbable Lounge is a night of toe tapping comedy improv fun. Improvised lounge & musical cabaret acts – with a couple of quirky variety acts….our launch night will also have its own festive singalong. Because it's Christmas. And because we can. But mainly because it's Christmas.

We're thrilled to have the dulcet tones & tinkling ivories of Phil Lunn, and his improvised comedy lounge act.

Plus we have musical comedy cabaret from Siobhan Dodd…and some surprise guest acts.

Of corse it's hosted by the inimitable Red Lorry Yellow Lorry musical comedyimprov.

But best of all it's all free free free! So get thee down the Priory Arms in Stockwell on 19 December, by 8pm.

You know we want you to.

5 mins with Miranda Dawe

We carry on our series of '5 mins with' interviews, with lovely improv folks.

Here's the inimitable and much loved lorry, Miranda Dawe…

My name is Miranda Dawe and my improv life in a nutshell is pretty short. I played impro games at drama school and I took a few classes at Amy Cook-Hodgson's impro clinic before auditioning for Red Lorry Yellow Lorry so I have been learning on the job which has been great fun.

My other hats are many – I do have a good head for hats – as I am an actress, singer, stand-up comedienne and writer. I have recently been in a run of NewsRevue and an advert for Maplin.

My Improv philosophy is to say 'Yes And' and tell the voice in your head that says “you are making rubbish choices” to go away.

I think my best improv moment is yet to come! I'm still learning!

Lots of things make me happy – basset hounds, the movie Summer Holiday, chocolate cheesecake! But within life with the Lorries it has to be the fun of performing with awesome people and the pleasure of finding a good rhyme!

My favourite tongue twister is:

Mrs Puggy Wuggy has a Square Cut Punt, Not a Punt Cut Square but a Square Cut Punt – it's round at the back and it's blunt in the front, Mrs Puggy Wuggy has a square cut punt.

Filth.

A whole lot of lorry laughs

We've been having fun over the last couple of months doing some gigs, rehearsing with each other and – most importantly – welcoming the lovely and über talented Dylan Townley on board as our new musical director.

Keep watching this space for more details and check out our twitter feed and facebook page…

Keep on truckin'

Feeling all autumnal

Some of the lorries have been in the garage over the summer, while some of us went on road trips to various improv haunts. Apparently there was a festival in Edinburgh, for example.

We're now all back together and ready to vroom, kickstarting our Autumn / Winter season with a slot at We are Funny at Dirty Dicks on Monday 21 October. https://www.facebook.com/thewearefunnyproject?directed_target_id=0

It looks like a crazy old improv variety night and we can't wait. See you there!

Festival fun

We’re very happy to be joining in the Finsbury Park Festival on Saturday 15th June.  Come and see us, we’re playing before 3pm and we’ll be the ones in red and yellow.  Details on our gigs page! The Finsbury Arts Festival is a community-led grass-roots arts festival that celebrates art by local children, parents and other residents, groups and organisations.

Some new lorries!

We’d like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who came and played with us last week in our search to find some new Lorries to play with us next year.   We had so much fun and everyone was awesome improvisers. We can’t believe we’ve got such a great group of people up for coming to play with us.

As a result we’ve taken on some new Lorries for the new year –  Nell Mooney, Lewis Harrison-Barker, Justin Brett, Fiona Sagar, Ananda Harrison, and Miranda Dawe. Hurray!
